Daniel Dusseau

Daniel Dusseau is the Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police (Retired) at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) and has been involved in public safety for 30 years. Chief Dusseau was hired in the aftermath of a shooting at NOVA and oversees police as well as emergency management and safety/security operations at 11 separate locations that provide academic instruction or services to more than 75,000 students and 5,000 faculty and staff. Under his leadership, NOVA has modernized its capabilities to include a state-of-the-art communication center, an emergency operations center, a monthly public safety newsletter, and training for students, staff and faculty to prepare and respond to incidents. As a result of his efforts Chief Dusseau was selected as the 2014 Police Chief/Security Director of the Year by Campus Safety magazine. He was recognized in 2015 for outstanding achievement in campus law enforcement by the Virginia Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. Prior to NOVA , Chief Dusseau was with the Prince George’s County Maryland Police Department where he retired at the rank of major.
